Job Overview

The Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon is seeking a dedicated Emergency Department Veterinarian to join our esteemed team of pet care professionals. Key Responsibilities

The Emergency Department Veterinarian will be tasked with delivering prompt and thorough medical attention to patients. This includes:

  • Conducting comprehensive physical assessments and interpreting diagnostic evaluations.
  • Administering appropriate treatments and maintaining meticulous records of all medical services provided.
  • Ensuring effective communication with clients and referring veterinarians regarding patient care and treatment protocols.
  • Engaging in practice promotion and contributing to the educational growth of interns and externs.
Leadership and Team Collaboration

In this role, you will:

  • Guide and mentor a team of veterinary technicians and assistants within the emergency department.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that prioritizes the needs of patients and their owners, as well as the well-being of the staff.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of departmental goals.
Operational Duties

Your operational responsibilities will include:

  • Taking detailed patient histories and performing thorough examinations.
  • Utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to inform treatment decisions.
  • Administering medications and therapies as needed, while ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Maintaining a clean and professional work environment, adhering to all safety and operational standards.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Oregon.
  • Experience in emergency medicine or urgent care settings is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
Physical Requirements

Applicants should be able to:

  • Lift and carry weights of up to 40 lbs independently and up to 150 lbs with assistance.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment while managing various tasks effectively.
  • Maintain physical stamina to perform duties throughout the day.
