Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Emergency Specialist to join our team at the Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon Inc. As a key member of our emergency department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional medical care to patients, collaborating with our team of veterinarians and support staff, and contributing to the growth and development of our hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Collaborate with veterinarian peers and support staff to create a positive and productive work environment.
    • Provide guidance, coaching, and direction to a team of veterinary technicians and assistants in the emergency department.
    • Develop and implement effective workflow processes to ensure positive patient outcomes, excellent client experience, and staff effectiveness.
  • Medical Care and Patient Management
    • Provide timely and comprehensive medical care to patients, including conducting physical examinations, interpreting diagnostic tests, and administering necessary treatments.
    • Maintain accurate records of all services rendered and ensure clear communication with clients or referring veterinarians regarding patient status and treatment plans.
  • Practice Development and Marketing
    • Promote the practice and marketing of our services to clients and the veterinary community.
    • Participate in the development and implementation of marketing strategies to attract new clients and grow our business.
  • Education and Training
    • Participate in the education and training of interns, externs, and residents in the emergency department.
    • Conduct in-house continuing education programs to stay up-to-date on the latest medical advancements and best practices.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited university or college.
    • Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Oregon.
    • Prior experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, or high-volume general practice preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
    • Commitment to providing compassionate care to patients and their owners.
Working Conditions

The Veterinary Emergency Specialist will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with frequent exposure to animal sounds, bodily fluids, and open wound management. The position requires the ability to lift and carry approximately 40 pounds, and to work for long periods of time with arms extended.
