Job Summary: We are seeking a Patient Access Representative Lead to join our team at UnitedHealth Group. In this role, you will be responsible for greeting and welcoming patients, collecting demographic and financial data, and entering information into an electronic medical record. You will also be responsible for checking in and interviewing patients to complete the registration process, obtaining signatures as needed, and directing patients to their appointment or procedure. Additionally, you will be responsible for resolving claim issues or registration errors on patient accounts and in assigned work queues, verifying insurance eligibility and benefits information for payers, and interpreting results. You will also be responsible for obtaining cost information and explaining it to patients, collecting on patient financial obligations, and handling complex questions as needed. You will also be responsible for screening and approving patients for financial assistance programs and providing financial counseling as needed. You will also be responsible for providing technical or functional direction for employees, assisting patients in completing request for information forms, and submitting them to the appropriate department. You will also be responsible for providing customer service for inbound and outbound telephone calls, collaborating with leaders to ensure team operations are staffed and working effectively, and coordinating workflow among employees. You will also be responsible for identifying and bringing forward trends to leadership related to daily site activities and exhibiting behaviors and expectations consistent with leadership roles. You will also be responsible for completing quality audits as assigned, participating in the orientation and training of employees, and providing feedback to leadership. You will also be responsible for participating in on-call rotation as defined by site and assisting and supporting the team in all roles. You will also be responsible for other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of revenue cycle experience in a healthcare/hospital setting
- 2+ years of customer service experience
- Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Ability to work 2:30pm - 11:00pm, Monday-Friday
- Ability to work standard, daytime hours for first 3-4 weeks upon hire in alignment with the department's training schedule
- 18 years or older
Preferred Qualifications:
- Epic experience
- Experience with electronic medical records
Physical Demands:
- Consistent walking, standing, bending, turning, etc.
- Lifting weight up to 10 lbs. occasionally, up to 2-5 lbs. frequently
