Exciting Pediatric Critical Care Opportunities in Washington's Scenic Region

Responsibilities

Pediatrix Medical Group of Washington is on the lookout for a Pediatric Critical Care Specialist to become part of our esteemed practice in a vibrant region known for its wine and hops production.

MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital (MYMH) features a 15-bed Level IIIA NICU catering to the needs of South Central WA state.

This facility serves as a regional perinatal center for Yakima County and its neighboring areas, alongside 4 federally designated critical access hospitals and a larger rural hospital.

With an annual delivery rate of approximately 2500 births, it stands as the sole Level III NICU within a 70-mile radius.

Our NICU has a rich history of over 40 years in delivering exceptional neonatal medical care to this flourishing rural community.

We maintain an average daily census of 10 patients and are actively enhancing our robust services in collaboration with high-level community OB care and MFM services.

We provide conventional mechanical ventilation and bubble CPAP support, though we currently do not offer high-frequency ventilation or iNO.

Comprehensive Therapy Team:
Our team includes Speech/Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists who offer consultations, neurodevelopmental assessments, and recommendations for developmentally supportive therapies.

The Yakima team collaborates with its sister practice in Spokane to conduct weekly meetings, review and update clinical guidelines, host journal clubs, and present M&M conferences.

We have established long-standing relationships with all three children's hospitals in the state, along with their Pediatric subspecialty services: Mary Bridge Children's Hospital (Tacoma), Seattle Children's Hospital (Seattle), and Sacred Heart Children's Hospital (Spokane).

These institutions provide regional pediatric support for medically complex patients requiring higher-level NICU care or ongoing subspecialty care post-discharge.

Our physicians typically work in 5-day blocks with the convenience of being on-call from home, promoting flexibility in scheduling and a healthy work/life balance.
Yakima is ideally situated in WA state, offering an outdoor enthusiast's dream.

With an average of 300 sunny days annually, the region is nestled in the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountain range.

It features a unique blend of mountains, desert, and farmland.

The diverse landscape provides four seasons of outdoor activities, including:
- Hiking and snowshoeing trails
- Biking and skiing in the mountains
- Paddling sports and fly-fishing in rivers
Yakima is also renowned for its agricultural richness. Local orchards are known for supplying apples globally, while residents can purchase fresh produce directly from local farms. The vineyards in the area contribute grapes to some of Washington's finest wine producers, and Yakima farmers are the leading producers of hops for international beer production, supporting a thriving local craft beer scene.
Located just a short drive from major cities, Yakima offers a lower cost of living and a variety of housing options, from horse ranches to historic homes and modern custom residences.

With excellent educational institutions and a strong sense of community, Yakima is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.
