Responsibilities

MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society is seeking a Neonatologist to enhance our practice in a vibrant and culturally rich region.

  • MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital (MYMH) features a 15-bed Level IIIA NICU catering to South Central WA state.
  • Acts as a regional perinatal center for Yakima County and its neighboring areas, including four federally designated critical access hospitals.
  • Handles an annual delivery rate of approximately 2500 births.
  • Serves as the sole Level III NICU within a 70-mile radius, surrounded by several critical access hospitals lacking pediatric or NICU services.
  • The NICU has a legacy of over 40 years in delivering exceptional neonatal medical care to this thriving rural community.
  • Average daily patient census stands at 10, actively revitalizing its comprehensive service in collaboration with high-level community OB care and MFM services.
  • Provides conventional mechanical ventilation and bubble CPAP support, though high-frequency ventilation or iNO is not currently available.
  • Full team of therapists, including Speech/Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists, offering consultations, neurodevelopmental assessments, and recommendations for supportive therapies.
  • The Yakima team collaborates with its Spokane counterpart to conduct weekly practice meetings, review clinical guidelines, host journal clubs, and present M&M conferences.
  • Maintains a long-standing relationship with three children's hospitals statewide and their Pediatric subspecialty services, ensuring regional pediatric support for complex cases requiring advanced NICU care.
  • Physicians typically operate on 5-day blocks with home call, providing flexibility and a balanced work/life schedule.
