Neonatology Opportunities in Washington's Wine Growing Region

Responsibilities

MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society is seeking a Neonatologist to enhance our practice in a renowned agricultural area.

  • MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital (MYMH) features a 15-bed Level IIIA NICU dedicated to serving South Central WA state.
  • Regional perinatal center for Yakima County and its neighboring regions, including several federally designated critical access hospitals.
  • Annual delivery rate of approximately 2500 births.
  • The only Level III NICU within a 70-mile radius, surrounded by critical access hospitals lacking pediatric or NICU services.
  • Over 40 years of expertise in delivering exceptional neonatal medical care to this vibrant rural community.
  • Average daily patient census of 10, actively expanding its comprehensive services in collaboration with community OB care and MFM services.
  • Providing conventional mechanical ventilation and bubble CPAP support, with no current offerings for high frequency ventilation or iNO.
  • A full team of therapists, including Speech/Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists, available for consultation and developmental assessments.
  • Collaboration with a sister practice in Spokane for weekly meetings to review clinical guidelines and present case conferences.
  • Established relationships with three children's hospitals in the state for pediatric subspecialty services, ensuring comprehensive care for complex cases.
  • Physicians typically work in 5-day blocks with at-home call, promoting a balanced work schedule and quality of life.

Yakima is centrally positioned in WA state, offering an outdoor enthusiast's haven. The region enjoys an average of 300 sunny days annually, with diverse landscapes including mountains, desert, and farmland. Outdoor activities abound, from hiking and skiing to paddling sports and fly-fishing. Yakima is also celebrated for its agricultural output, including globally sourced apples and local produce. The region's vineyards contribute to some of the finest wines in WA, and Yakima farmers are significant contributors to the international hops market, supporting a thriving craft beer industry.

Salary Range: $210k to $275k base salary based on experience, plus potential for an annual practice bonus.
