This position requires close collaboration with senior management, project coordinators, and design teams, taking charge of architectural programming and planning for cutting-edge science and technology facilities. These projects encompass educational and research laboratories, vivariums, and STEM spaces tailored for academic institutions, corporate research entities, and governmental organizations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

As a Lab Planner, your responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging with clients and stakeholders to ascertain and refine program requirements for laboratory and high-tech facilities.
  • Creating comprehensive space programs and physical layouts across various scales.
  • Collaborating with project teams to design facilities, incorporating flexible planning frameworks, laboratory organization schematics, and service distribution strategies.
  • Overseeing the documentation of laboratory systems, including casework and equipment, to develop innovative environments conducive to research and discovery.
  • Contributing to marketing initiatives through proposal development, participation in interviews, and delivering presentations.
  • Building and maintaining trusting relationships with clients.
  • Providing mentorship and sharing expertise with junior staff in lab programming and planning.


Qualifications


Ideal candidates will possess:

  • 8-12 years of experience in architectural lab programming and planning.
  • Preferred architectural registration.
  • A proven track record of effectively managing client relationships, project teams, and project workflows.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in design software including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A strong design sensibility, a commitment to sustainability, and excellent technical skills.
