Nutrition Specialist

SOS Personnel is actively looking to recruit a Nutrition Specialist.
The primary objective is:
to avert adverse health effects for all service members, particularly those at heightened risk concerning their dietary habits and lifestyle choices.
This role involves providing support to all personnel interested in enhancing their overall wellness and physical fitness. The ultimate aim is to reduce the likelihood of chronic diseases (such as coronary artery disease, stroke, diabetes, and certain cancers), as well as illnesses, infections, injuries, and trauma through behavioral modifications.
The ideal candidate will deliver:
nutritional guidance, physical fitness education, and wellness coaching tailored to the needs of service members.
Period of Performance: One Base Year of 12 months with an optional extension for an additional year.
Work Schedule: 80 hours every two weeks, with flexibility required to accommodate drill weekends and annual training.
Qualifications:
- A thorough background check.
- A Bachelor's degree in nutrition and dietetics, along with successful completion of a dietetic internship.
- Certification as a Registered Dietitian from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Eligibility for licensure in accordance with state regulations.
- Experience in dealing with eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image issues.
- Intuitive Eating Certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with Social Determinants of Health, Health at Every Size, Intuitive Eating, and inclusive weight management practices.
- Understanding of military body composition standards and culture.
- Telehealth experience is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills for varied audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to produce high-quality deliverables.
- A valid driver's license and capability to operate a vehicle.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
- Flexibility in working hours is essential to effectively support military personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed nutritional assessments, considering clients' health histories, dietary preferences, and specific goals.
- Create customized meal plans and dietary recommendations tailored to individual needs.
- Monitor client progress and adjust nutrition plans as necessary.
- Educate clients on nutrition, portion control, and healthy eating practices.
- Stay informed about the latest nutrition research and trends, applying evidence-based practices in recommendations.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records for all clients.
