Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Diagnostic Pathologist and Professor of Veterinary Medicine to join our team at the University of California-Davis. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing diagnostic services, conducting research, and teaching veterinary students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnostic Services: The candidate will function primarily as a diagnostic pathologist in the California Animal Health & Food Safety Laboratory System (CAHFS) laboratory located on the UC Davis campus. The diagnostic caseload will include a variety of livestock, avian, and wildlife species with an emphasis on disease conditions affecting food animal species.
  • Research: The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research and publish results in appropriate journals.
  • Teaching: The incumbent will have daily interaction with local resident and limited teaching responsibilities to veterinary and graduate students.
  • Service: University and public service through departmental, school, and university committee work, participation in professional organizations, continuing education, and other appropriate activities is required.
Requirements
  • Basic Qualifications: DVM or equivalent degree with experience in mammalian/avian diseases required. Board certification or eligibility for board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP) required. Appointment renewal to the 4th year requires ACVP or ECVP board certification.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in veterinary pathology or related field preferred. Knowledge of quality assurance, molecular diagnostics, and bacteriology desired.
