Clinical Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for directing, instructing, and supervising veterinary students and residents in the Small Animal Medicine Service of the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH). This will include teaching clinical skills and providing mentorship to junior faculty members.

Teaching Responsibilities

The primary teaching responsibility will consist of clinical teaching in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH), including direct daily supervision and instruction of senior students in small animal internal medicine. The individual will also participate in the graduate clinical (resident) training program of the VMTH and engage in continuing professional education.

Professional Competence

The candidate is expected to advance the discipline within the VMTH, as well as locally and nationally, through participation and leadership in providing high-quality patient care in the hospital environment. This will involve establishing a reputation for clinical excellence and promoting the VMTH through consultations with referring veterinarians and local continuing education seminars.

Creative Scholarship

Faculty are expected to advance the clinical discipline through creation and dissemination of new knowledge with documentation from peer-reviewed publications. The successful candidate will be required to engage in creative/scholarly activities, which may focus primarily on integrating/improving clinical care, conducting clinical research studies, and/or improving veterinary medical education.

Application Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess a veterinarian with advanced training in small animal internal medicine. Board certification or board eligibility by the American or European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine - Small Animal is required. The candidate must also demonstrate aptitude/experience in teaching, particularly clinical instruction, and have a documented record of creative scholarship and evidence of clinical research activity in small animal internal medicine.
