Position: Woodworker Lead

Overview:

Responsible for the manufacturing and repair of wooden containers, skids, and platforms utilized in packing, storage, and shipping operations. Daily work assignments will be received from the Woodworker Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Supervisor in planning work schedules and provide guidance to a team of employees.
  • Conduct evaluations and support the supervisor in ensuring a smooth workflow while maintaining accurate records.
  • May be required to temporarily assume supervisory responsibilities in cases of emergency or absence.
  • Conduct inventory and research, interpret supply manuals, specifications, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Utilize plans and blueprints to select, measure, cut, shape, and fabricate wooden containers and platforms.
  • Repair containers as necessary during receipt and COSIS processes.
  • Provide packing, assembly, and shipping support as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Duties:

Execute supervisory responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required (Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis).
  • At least one year of general experience is necessary.
  • Minimum of one year of specific experience in using woodworking tools, fabricating containers, or framing construction.
  • Ability to read blueprints, measure fabrication materials, and identify various materials for constructing wooden containers; proficient in using saws, planers, sanders, drills, etc.
  • Demonstrated skill in assembling and fabricating wooden containers, including boxes, stands, chests, skids, and platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • A positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team are essential.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision are required.
  • Must be able to multitask efficiently, work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects, and maintain strong attention to detail.

Certifications and Clearances:

MHE Certification is required.

Security Clearance:

A Secret Level clearance may be required.

  • Must possess a current U.S. Government SECRET Personnel Security Clearance or be able to successfully complete a U.S. government-administered investigation.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to maintain a U.S. Government SECRET clearance.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

The position is based in a shop/warehouse environment. Work involves repetitive motions and prolonged standing. The role is physically demanding and requires the ability to lift 50 lbs overhead and/or repetitively. Occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions may be required.
