Job Overview

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Welding Lead, the Senior Welding Technician executes tasks with minimal oversight and employs a variety of welding techniques, including electric resistance, oxyacetylene, and plasma-arc methods. This role may involve delegating tasks to junior welders and reviewing their output. The technician is responsible for welding various metals and alloys in different configurations, ensuring proper selection of welding electrodes to achieve optimal penetration and fusion of base and filler materials. The technician will weld components to fabricate or repair products in accordance with technical drawings, layouts, or work orders, performing welds in vertical, horizontal, and overhead orientations.


Key Responsibilities
- Assign work and provide mentorship to other welding staff as necessary.
- Interpret technical drawings or welding specifications.
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding machinery to join metal parts using techniques such as TIG and MIG.
- Specialize in specific welding types, including custom fabrication, structural construction, or production welding.
- Utilize electric and pneumatic tools as required.
- Process all jobs through the Made2Manage (M2M) system.


Additional Duties
- Operate plasma cutting machines as required.
- Assemble subassemblies as needed.
- Use forklifts, electronic pallet jacks, or hoists.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.


Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of five years' experience as a Welder II, or a welding certification with three years of welding experience and some college or industry courses in welding is desirable.
- Five years of machine shop experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with welding materials and equipment is essential.
- Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and hoists is beneficial.
- Ability to read and utilize a tape measure.

Compensation
$24 - $28/hr
