Position Overview
This role is essential for collaborating with Associate Merchants to curate product selections for various lines under review; enhancing product assortment through data analysis and financial forecasting. The position involves partnering with the merchandising team to execute effective supplier strategies. Additionally, it entails working alongside omni-channel merchants to refine product selections, ensuring optimal assortment based on data insights and financial projections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support omni-channel merchants in the selection, negotiation, and pricing of inventory and specialized products.
  • Organize and lead vendor meetings and negotiations.
  • Oversee SKU management, vendor digital assets (including product images, SDS, and marketing materials), and merchandise reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with the internal marketing team on promotional materials, ensuring accuracy in pricing and product information.
  • Manage restocking of replacement items and provide recommendations for alternatives.
  • Assist omni-channel merchants in analyzing competitive market data related to category performance and assortment effectiveness.

Work Environment

  • Work is primarily conducted in a comfortable indoor setting, with minimal exposure to unpleasant conditions.
  • Overnight travel is infrequent, typically less than 10% of the time.
  • Most tasks are performed while seated, with opportunities for movement throughout the day.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is typically required. Certification may be necessary in certain areas. Generally, 0-2 years of experience in a related field is expected, or a Master's degree with 0-1 year of experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in vendor management and negotiation processes.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and data management (MDM).
  • Background in MRO or similar industry experience.
  • Knowledge of merchandising strategies, site merchandising, inventory oversight, and vendor relations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Assist Lead Merchants in managing product category portfolios.
  • Handle day-to-day management of assigned product categories, including SKU updates, marketing initiatives, and sales support.
  • Comprehend market dynamics, product applications, and competitive landscapes.
  • Support promotional activities, sales tool development, demand generation campaigns, and sales training.
  • Foster strong collaborative relationships with team members across Merchandising, Procurement, Marketing, and eCommerce to achieve business objectives.
  • Actively engage in supplier pricing negotiations and assist with trade shows and events as needed.
  • Knowledge of NetSuite is advantageous, along with intermediate or advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all business unit functions.
  • Strong business acumen, with a preference for candidates holding a BS degree and experience in the water/wastewater sector.
