Job Title: Court Operations Specialist

Join the State of Oregon team as a Court Operations Specialist, supporting the Honorable Brandon Thompson in Hillsboro, Oregon. This role is responsible for providing courtroom support, preparing the courtroom and daily dockets, coordinating proceedings, and operating digital recording equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the courtroom and daily dockets, ensuring a smooth and efficient court process.
  • Coordinate proceedings, including scheduling and facilitating remote hearings as needed.
  • Operate and monitor digital recording equipment, ensuring accurate and complete recordings.
  • Complete log notes, fill out forms, orders, and judgments, and swear in witnesses and jurors.
  • Process exhibits, verify pleadings, and research case statuses.
  • Enter orders into the record and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four years of responsible administrative experience in a moderately complex office or business setting.
  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines in a busy business or professional setting.
  • Experience using a variety of software programs to access and input information and complete various tasks.
  • Experience coordinating schedules and maintaining calendars.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when providing customer service to a variety of individuals in challenging circumstances.
  • Ability to explain processes, procedures, or policies.
  • Ability to identify and safeguard confidential information and materials.
Working Conditions:
  • This is a full-time position, with a standard work schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Overtime compensation may be required for hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people, including criminal defendants, who may be facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and must pass a criminal background check. Reference checks will be conducted as part of the hiring process.
