Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Division Heads, Academic Dean, and School Counselor to identify students needing academic support.
  • Design and manage learning support initiatives tailored for Middle and Upper School students.
  • Provide individualized and small group instruction focusing on learning strategies, organization, executive functioning, and study skills.
  • Evaluate student performance and academic progress, providing regular updates.
  • Facilitate parent and faculty meetings to discuss student achievements and challenges.
  • Interpret psycho-educational evaluations to inform instructional strategies.
  • Conduct professional development workshops for faculty on diverse learning styles and instructional techniques.
  • Develop Student Learning Plans to address specific educational needs.
  • Advise families on available learning support services.
  • Coordinate standardized testing for students.
  • Offer resources and training to faculty to enhance their ability to support all learners.
  • Maintain effective communication and documentation related to learning support.
  • Participate actively in Student Support Team (SST) meetings.
  • Contribute to the admissions process concerning students with learning differences.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of School.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education (Master's preferred) with a specialization in Special Education.
  • Proven experience with individualized education plans and learning disability interventions.
  • Understanding of the psycho-educational development of students in grades 5-12.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a similar role, preferably in an independent school setting.
  • Knowledge of legal responsibilities regarding IEP and 504 plans.
  • Proficiency in utilizing technology to support learning.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with faculty, staff, and families.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Physical capability to perform essential functions in various educational settings.

Work Environment
  • Regularly work in standard office or classroom conditions.
  • Utilize close and distance vision, including extended periods at a computer.
  • Engage in physical movement within the office/classroom environment.
  • Occasionally lift items weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Participate in before and after-school or weekend events as needed.
