POSITION

Blue Cliff College is in search of a Skin Care Education Specialist. This role encompasses a range of essential responsibilities aimed at delivering comprehensive instruction in the principles and practices of esthetics. This includes the application of cosmetic products, body therapies, hydrotherapy, and various skin care treatments. The instructor will guide students in techniques for cleansing, exfoliating, and enhancing the skin, as well as applying makeup and performing hair removal services.

JOB DUTIES
  • Develops performance-based objectives and outlines for the curriculum in alignment with college and regulatory standards.
  • Structures a program of hands-on and theoretical instruction, including skill demonstrations and lectures on esthetics concepts; prepares instructional materials and outlines.
  • Educates students on the proper use, maintenance, and safe operation of esthetics tools and equipment, as well as relevant regulations.
  • Emphasizes the significance of precision, organization, and professionalism in securing employment as Estheticians.
  • Assigns and evaluates student assignments; administers assessments to gauge students' technical knowledge and practical abilities.
  • Maintains records of student attendance and progress; communicates updates to the Lead Instructor and Registrar.
  • Presents course content through diverse teaching methods, ensuring effective use of class time for instruction and necessary activities.
  • Provides individual or group assistance to students with assignments to reinforce learning; facilitates study groups for exam preparation.
  • Implements classroom rules and maintains discipline; employs effective management strategies.
  • Participates in required meetings and training sessions; engages in faculty and professional development activities.
  • Files a detailed syllabus for each course with the Program Chair.
  • Conducts evaluations of classes and participates in institutional assessments as per college policy.
  • Offers recommendations to the Program Chair for curriculum enhancements in line with college objectives.
  • Completes an annual performance review with the Program Chair, approved by the Director of Education.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Must possess a valid Cosmetology/Esthetician license from the relevant state board.
  • Instructor's License in Cosmetology/Esthetics is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a licensed cosmetologist/esthetician is necessary, with comprehensive industry knowledge.
  • Prior teaching or training experience is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Ability to articulate and implement policies and procedures effectively.
  • Basic mathematical proficiency, including understanding of percentages and fractions.
  • Familiarity with educational assessment methods.
  • Proficient in using office equipment such as calculators and copiers.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong instructional capabilities.
  • Sound judgment in developing relevant programs and curricula.
  • Capability to supervise and mentor staff, including organizing and prioritizing tasks.
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Professional integrity and discretion in all interactions.

COMPENSATION

The pay range for this position is $20.00 per hour, based on experience. This figure represents the base pay and does not include additional components of the total rewards package. Overall compensation will be influenced by factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience, potentially resulting in total compensation outside of this range.
