Exempt Position Summary:

Aldevra is actively seeking a skilled Therapeutic Radiologic Specialist responsible for delivering therapeutic doses of ionizing radiation. This role involves utilizing advanced linear accelerators, such as Varian treatment units, and managing Treatment Management Systems (TMS) like ARIA, along with simulating patients in CT-SIM scanners, in alignment with the directives of radiation oncologists.

While training will be provided, the ideal candidate should resonate with our core values of SOAR (Strong Integrity and Ethics, Outstanding Teamwork, Accountability-Driven, and Relentless Pursuit of Quality).

This position is contingent upon contract award.



ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Reviews and confirms patient treatment plans and machine parameters as part of a quality assurance process prior to the initial treatment and conducts daily quality checks.

2. Executes quality assurance warm-up tests on treatment units and simulators, reporting any issues to the supervisor or physicist.

3. Accurately positions patients on the treatment table according to established protocols.

4. Captures necessary electronic portal images throughout the treatment course, adhering to departmental standards.

5. Recognizes emergency patient conditions and provides or initiates first aid or basic life support as needed.

6. Maintains electronic records for patient setups and treatments using ARIA and the Computerized Patient Record System.

7. Collaborates continuously with radiation oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists, therapy colleagues, nurses, social workers, the Cancer Navigation Team, and patients' families to ensure optimal treatment pathways.

Requirements:
(if applicable) Must be able to obtain VA PIV badge. Follow Privacy Act of 1974. Other applicable laws, Federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy must be adhered to. This position requires passing an extensive background check.

Qualifications:


1. Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Therapeutic Radiologic Specialist.

2. Successfully completed a program in therapeutic radiologic technology, evidenced by a certificate or an associate's or higher degree accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology or other recognized accrediting bodies.

3. Completion of a 12-month ED accrediting body-approved program in therapeutic radiologic technology.

4. Must meet the credentialing standards in 42 C.F.R. Part 75.

5. Certification in therapeutic radiologic technology by the ARRT in Radiation Therapy (ARRT (T)).

6. BLS certification for Healthcare Providers.

7. Knowledge in specialized areas of therapeutic radiologic technology including treatments, simulation, mold room, treatment planning, medical dosimetry, total body irradiation, and brachytherapy procedures.

8. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, with some bending and moderate lifting required.

9. Valid driver's license.

10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

11. Familiarity with Windows operating systems, online calendars, cloud systems, and intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office products.

12. Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry.

13. Customer-focused and team-oriented work ethic.

14. Ability to multi-task efficiently and accurately, with a focus on quality.
