Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Flexibility to work beyond standard hours and during emergencies is required.
Position Overview: Aldevra, LLC is in search of a skilled Medical Physicist to assist the Lead Therapeutic Medical Physicist and the Radiology Department. The role of a medical physicist is crucial within the radiology department, encompassing patient care, education, and research. In terms of patient care, the medical physicist is responsible for quality assurance and safety protocols, which include conducting acceptance tests, periodic evaluations of imaging equipment for compliance with regulations, and providing estimations of patient radiation exposure. Additionally, medical physicists are often involved in the education of radiology residents and radiation technologists, offering in-service training to staff and other personnel. Key Responsibilities:
Direct Patient Care (80%):
- Serve as a Certified Therapeutic Medical Physicist (CTMP), overseeing all physics and dosimetry functions for radiation oncology services.
- Ensure the quality management of radiation oncology services by developing and implementing quality management policies, conducting quarterly quality assurance reports, and maintaining licenses for radioactive materials and software.
- Manage quality assurance related to equipment, conduct shielding surveys, develop new procedures, and report adverse events to the National Health Physics Program (NHPP).
- Optimize and assess radiation treatment plans to ensure accurate dose delivery while prioritizing patient and staff safety.
- Perform calculations, conduct systematic reviews of treatment charts, and maintain precise records of equipment specifications and maintenance.
- Oversee dosimetry, calibrate treatment devices, manage new procedures, and provide comprehensive support for network and computer systems.
- Assist in brachytherapy procedures and maintain thorough documentation of all activities related to radiation therapy.
- Participate in service staff meetings and ensure prompt reporting of patient safety incidents and events involving radioactive materials, adhering to VA and NHPP protocols.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Board Certified in Medical Physics or Therapeutic Medical Physics by the ABR or certified by the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) in Radiation Oncology Physics.
- Master's or Doctorate Degree in Medical Physics or a related field.
- Current Board Certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology.
- Knowledge and experience in professional care theories and practices relevant to the radiation oncology patient population.
- Experience with medical linear accelerator calibration and quality assurance.
- Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe Acrobat applications.
