Water Treatment Plant Operator

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at Seminole County, FL. As a key member of our Utilities Operations department, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our water treatment facilities, ensuring the delivery of safe and clean drinking water to our community.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain water treatment facilities, including monitoring and controlling treatment processes, laboratory and field analyses, and routine calibrations and maintenance.
- Responsible for the water distribution within the treatment process, including the use of process chemicals.
- Ensure adherence to proper safety standards and procedures, and maintain all safety equipment and related records.
- Operate, maintain, and repair all chemical systems, including hypochlorite feed, dosing pumps, and associated piping and fittings.
- Prepare and submit all required Daily Plant Logs, Equipment Data Logs, Process Control records, and Monthly Operating Reports.
- Collect and submit data as required to assist with department operations, such as budget preparation and purchasing planning.
- Supervise and train other staff members as required, and coordinate with other departments, vendors, and contractors to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Maintain State-mandated professional qualifications by seeking out and completing approved C.E.U. courses.
- Perform after-hours and on-call duties, responding to emergencies and other call-outs as directed.
- Respond to customer complaints and concerns, and maintain all Water Quality Complaint documentation.
- Maintain the water plant distribution system, collect mandated system chemical and bacteriological samples, and develop, maintain, and modify as necessary, system flushing programs.
- Operate Microsoft Office programs for preparation of routine paperwork and records, and be familiar with computer operations and data entry procedures as pertains to operational needs.
- High School Diploma/GED and one (1) year experience required; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
- Possession of a Class "C" Water Plant Operator certification, or higher, issued by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
- Must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and SCADA software; GIS experience preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License.
- Considerable hands-on knowledge of pump operations and maintenance, well field operations, chlorination equipment operation and maintenance, and operation and calibration of laboratory and field analytical equipment.
- Must have normal color vision, and be available to work any hours or days as may be assigned.
- Must meet all qualifications required to use a respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus.
- Experience operating Water Treatment Plants using Ozone.
- Experience dealing with Customer Service Issues.
