Employment Conditions
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited student position. Employment is contingent upon mutual consent, allowing either party to terminate the relationship at will, with or without cause.
Depending on the position type, a pre-employment background check may be conducted, including employment history, professional references, criminal checks, educational verification, or DMV clearance. Applicants must pass these checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises and the hiring department.
Students are not permitted to hold more than one position at University Enterprises simultaneously or work in multiple accounts per pay period. If considering a transition to a different student assistant role, a written notice to the current supervisor is required.
University Enterprises only employs candidates residing and working in the state of California. All work must be performed within California throughout the employment period.
Prerequisites
Applicants must be enrolled as college students during the regular academic terms at one of the accredited institutions on our affiliation list. Students must maintain enrollment in a minimum number of units: six-semester units or nine-quarter units for undergraduates; four-semester units or six-quarter units for graduates. The declared major must align with the fields specified in the job posting.
Fields of Study
Accounting, Business Administration, Communication Studies, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Information Technology, Mathematics and Statistics, Management, Management Information Systems, Public Policy Administration.
Work Schedule
Flexible workdays and hours are available, Monday to Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM, with the final schedule determined by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
- Complete each term with the required minimum units for undergraduate and graduate classifications.
- Possess and maintain a valid California driver's license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Individuals who have been dependents in foster care, homeless youth, or formerly incarcerated youth are encouraged to apply and will receive priority consideration.
- Previous experience in a professional or administrative setting is advantageous.
- Assist with various office-wide functions, including personnel, accounting, budgeting, procurement, facility management, telecommunications, training, and project management, by participating in meetings, project workgroups, and creating deliverables.
- Provide timely customer service to stakeholders by researching and responding to inquiries, ensuring compliance with established policies.
- Support the development of reports and procedures related to project planning and implementation.
- Engage in special projects by conducting research, gathering data, and making recommendations to enhance processes.
- Assist in the daily operations of the OAH by completing specific tasks to address issues and ensure administrative needs are met.
Ability to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, and use office equipment. Daily use of a personal computer and various software applications is required.
Working Conditions
This position operates in a hybrid environment, requiring professional attire for interactions with the public and other agencies. Telework is permitted three days a week, following the organization's telework policy.
