Job Description

**Job Title:** Director of Planning and Development

**Job Summary:**

Tandym Group is seeking an experienced professional to join their team as the Director of Planning and Development. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong background in planning and development, as well as excellent leadership and management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Development: Develop, direct, and oversee the creation, coordination, and implementation of comprehensive urban plans and master plans, as well as project-specific site plans and land development plans.
  • Capital Improvement Planning: Lead the development of the five-year capital improvement plan and initiate and manage approved CIP projects through the planning, design, and construction phases.
  • Staff Management: Direct the activities of professional staff, including planning, commercial, industrial, and residential developments.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Perform other duties as needed, including communicating with stakeholders and collaborating with internal teams.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in Planning, Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years of management and supervisory experience in planning and design.
  • Certifications: Possession of at least one of the following certifications: American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), American Planning Association (APA), or State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in a wide variety of software packages, including Autocad, Microsoft Office, and databases. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Travel and Work Schedule: Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License and ability to travel locally and nationally. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Master's Degree: Prior experience in dealing with Federal, State, County, and Local government agencies and officials.
