Lead Revenue Accounting Specialist
At Blue Origin, we are committed to the vision of enabling millions to thrive in space, contributing positively to life on Earth. Our mission involves the development of safe, reusable, and cost-effective space vehicles and systems, all within a framework that prioritizes safety, collaboration, and inclusivity. We invite you to join our dynamic team of innovators as we embark on new adventures in the realm of space exploration.
The role of Lead Revenue Accounting Specialist is crucial within our diverse team, serving as the primary authority on revenue accounting. This position is integral to managing various components of Blue Origin's order-to-cash cycle. A key focus will be the assessment of complex customer agreements to ensure appropriate revenue recognition in alignment with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Overseeing Blue Origin's revenue recognition procedures in compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory frameworks (e.g., ASC 606, IAS 20).
- Evaluating and advising on revenue recognition strategies for customer contracts.
- Managing the comprehensive process of intercompany accounting.
- Collaborating with Business Unit Finance, Contracts, Operations, and Tax teams to analyze and structure revenue agreements, including those with multiple elements.
- Maintaining the revenue subledger and executing customer billing processes.
- Conducting month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and revenue analysis.
- Providing guidance and training on revenue recognition to the Accounting and Finance teams.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in revenue accounting, particularly with ASC 606.
- A solid grasp of US GAAP and internal controls related to financial reporting.
- A proactive, action-oriented mindset—favoring a builder mentality over a maintainer approach.
- The ability to cultivate trust, foster positive relationships, and contribute to an inclusive workplace culture.
- Eligibility as a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
Compensation for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Inclusivity Statement:
At Blue Origin, we value diversity and encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply, even if they do not meet every single qualification listed. Your unique experiences may be just what we need.
Benefits:
We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, paid parental leave, disability benefits, a 401(k) plan with company matching, and an Education Support Program. Additionally, employees enjoy generous paid time off and company holidays.
Equal Employment Opportunity:
Blue Origin is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer, dedicated to attracting and retaining a diverse workforce. We promote a workplace that values trust, equality, and teamwork, recognizing the importance of individual differences.
