The Stripe Product Accounting Team

We're responsible for supporting all products at Stripe, consulting on accounting implications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to make informed strategic decisions. Our team operates in a fast-paced environment, and we're looking for someone who can thrive in this setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build scalable accounting processes to support global growth in payment processing accounting
  • Partner closely with product, go-to-market, and finance partners to understand new products, features, and contracts, and advise on accounting implications
  • Partner with internal systems and engineering teams to support internal financial systems and automation of accounting processes
  • Research and prepare technical accounting analyses
  • Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date accounting procedural documentation
  • Plan and perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, financial reporting deliverables, and analytical reviews
  • Produce internal management analyses and reporting
  • Support external audit processes
Requirements
  • 7+ years of relevant public accounting and/or industry experience in accounting
  • B.A. or B.S degree in Accounting or Finance (CA/CPA strongly preferred)
  • Fluency in U.S. GAAP and ability to research complex accounting issues with a focus in ASC 606
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal, with ability to convey financial concepts to both financial and non-financial audiences
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and experience working with large data sets, often coming from multiple sources
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Experience with internal controls (design, implementation, and execution)
  • Demonstrated history of taking on various types of challenging projects and producing results, with excellent attention to detail
  • Solution-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for establishing best practices and challenging existing processes to identify improvement opportunities
