Position Overview

The Technical Project Manager acts as a pivotal collaborator for our clients in the North American sector, serving as a proactive technical authority responsible for ensuring the successful sale, system design, implementation, commissioning, and operation of comprehensive system solutions tailored to meet client specifications.

In complex projects involving multiple unit processes, the Technical Project Manager leads a team of Process Engineers to support project execution. They are tasked with fostering a collaborative and inventive atmosphere within the team, ensuring effective communication and knowledge exchange, and managing process deliverables such as schedules, assignments, and quality assurance. Within cross-functional project teams, the Technical Project Manager provides strategic guidance and facilitates decision-making to ensure alignment with project goals and client requirements. They build robust relationships with clients and project stakeholders, promoting teamwork and driving successful project outcomes.

The Technical Project Manager utilizes their extensive technical expertise to guide the development of the overall treatment solution alongside the Process Engineering team, taking into account client requirements, safety considerations, and feedstock quality and quantity. Responsibilities in Process Engineering include defining the design basis, process design (including process flow diagrams, design parameters, and mass balances), proposal development for Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, process narratives, hydraulic profiles, ownership of process guarantees, leading design reviews, risk management, preliminary equipment and instrumentation selections, participating in HAZOPs, overseeing successful process startups, performance testing, and ongoing operational support. The Technical Project Manager also collaborates with project and service teams on execution of P&ID development, control narratives, equipment and instrumentation selection, operability, safety and regulatory compliance, commissioning activities, and operational support. In the event of challenges, they spearhead troubleshooting efforts and resolutions.

We seek a Technical Project Manager with experience in complex incineration solutions within the Biosolids sector, possessing leadership skills to guide process engineers and project teams, and the ability to partner with clients to deliver outstanding experiences.

Key Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to articulate a vision, align and motivate a team towards common goals, mentor and coach others, and make informed decisions with limited information in dynamic conditions.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively and build strong partnerships with clients, understanding their needs and delivering solutions that surpass expectations.
  • Bachelor's Degree in an accredited Engineering discipline (advanced degrees are a plus) or a related technical field combined with relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years (preferably 15 or more) of relevant experience, focusing on the design and/or operation of biosolids incineration solutions. Candidates with process engineering backgrounds or proven leadership experience from other relevant sectors will be considered.
  • Experience in the biosolids industry, specifically in the incineration of biosolids, including designing incineration systems utilizing high-temperature fluidized bed technology.
  • Knowledge of incineration technology and/or multiple hearth incineration technology, including natural gas feed and burner systems, furnaces, stacks, Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS), and air pollution control equipment, as well as conducting heat and mass balance and thermal calculations.
  • Experience in P&ID development, equipment sizing and selection, control strategies, startup, operations, troubleshooting, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.



Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English for client-facing interactions (including presentations) and internal collaboration.
  • Familiarity with biological modeling tools such as Biowin, GPS-X, SIMBA, SUMO, etc.
  • Professional Engineer's License.
  • Strong critical and creative thinking abilities, with the capacity to evaluate multiple options using sound judgment.
  • Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
