Position Overview
The Senior Trade Manager for Food and Fibre Exports plays a pivotal role within the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions, reporting directly to the Team Lead. This position is responsible for managing the implementation of TradeStart services throughout regional areas, while also contributing to wider trade initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the effective execution of TradeStart services in regional areas, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and reporting standards, while also managing daily operations and fostering team development through coaching and performance evaluations.
- Manage the client engagement process across various regions, identifying priority clients within key food and beverage sectors, assessing their readiness for market entry, and providing tailored business development support and referrals.
- Offer specialized trade advice to both new and established exporters in Victoria, assisting them in crafting export strategies and enhancing their capabilities, while facilitating connections to international markets through government trade offices.

This role is integral to Global Victoria, a division within the ITI Group, which aims to connect Victorian businesses with global opportunities. Our mission involves enhancing the export capabilities of local enterprises, linking them to international trade prospects through a robust network of offices, and showcasing Victoria's industry strengths to a global audience. Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Proven ability to cultivate and sustain successful relationships with a diverse array of clients, stakeholders, and partners, effectively addressing their business development needs.
- Relevant experience in trade, international business, or a related field, with a solid understanding of global market trends, trade regulations, and compliance, particularly within the agrifood sector.
- A commercially driven and solution-oriented mindset, coupled with strong analytical skills that enable the provision of informed advice aligning client goals with business or international market opportunities.
Additional Information
The department prioritizes child safety and has a zero-tolerance policy towards child abuse, implementing proactive measures to protect children from harm. Candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Records Check prior to employment. Only Australian citizens are eligible, and pre-employment checks will include security clearance and screening processes.
