Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Food and Fibre Exports, the regionally based Export Trade Manager spearheads and executes Austrade TradeStart services and initiatives on behalf of Global Victoria, the official trade promotion and facilitation entity within the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) of the Victorian Government.
Key Responsibilities
The primary duties of this role include:
- Deliver tailored trade guidance to both new and established Victorian exporters, assisting in the development of export strategies and capabilities while facilitating valuable connections to international markets through Austrade and Victorian Government Trade and Investment Offices (VGTIs).
- Actively identify priority clients within critical food and beverage sectors, assess their market readiness and capabilities, and provide effective business development support and referrals.
- Regularly analyze current trends, industry insights, and global market intelligence to provide relevant and timely advice to businesses, the Austrade network, and Victorian Government stakeholders.

The role of Export Trade Manager, Food and Fibre Exports is part of Global Victoria within the ITI Group. Global Victoria connects Victoria to global opportunities by enhancing the export capabilities of Victorian businesses, linking them to international trade prospects through our extensive network of offices, and showcasing our industry strengths to global audiences. We play a pivotal role in fostering global engagement across government and advocate for optimal policy frameworks to ensure Victoria's competitiveness on the world stage.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Proven ability to cultivate and sustain successful relationships with a diverse array of clients, stakeholders, and partners, effectively addressing their business development needs.
- Demonstrated experience in trade, international business, or a related field, with a solid understanding of global market dynamics, trade regulations, and compliance requirements, particularly within the agrifood sector.
- A commercially driven and solution-oriented mindset, coupled with strong analytical skills that enable the provision of informed advice aligning client objectives with business or international market opportunities.
Additional Information
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Records Check prior to commencing employment with the Department. Australian citizens only, and pre-employment checks include AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance and Austrade pre-employment screening.
