WestLand is seeking to enhance our Cultural Resources team in Arizona by adding a full-time Precontact/Prehistoric Principal Investigator. This role may be based out of our Tucson or Phoenix offices. You will play a crucial role in mentoring our cultural teams while serving as a technical authority on a diverse array of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate cultural resources technical research and produce technical reports.
  • Develop and create proposals, including establishing budgets, timelines, and necessary resources.
  • Manage and oversee archaeological fieldwork, including surveys, testing, monitoring, and data recovery excavations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with agency archaeologists, descendant communities, and museum professionals.
  • Supervise the processing and cataloging of artifacts and other materials according to repository specifications.
  • Guide and mentor teams of cultural resources professionals.

Qualifications:

  • A PhD in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field, along with additional experience, may be considered in lieu of a PhD.
  • A minimum of four years of CRM supervisory experience in the American Southwest.
  • Must possess an Arizona State Museum Principal Investigator permit or be eligible to obtain one.
  • Expertise in local, state, and federal cultural resources laws and regulations is essential.
  • Experience in managing fieldwork, analysis, and report production for extensive cultural resources surveys and data recovery projects.
  • Proficient in writing and reviewing technical archaeological reports.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $76,000 - $114,000 per year.
