Patient Services Representative Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Services Representative to join our team at Neighborcare Health. As a key member of our clinic team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to ensure a positive experience for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Warmly greet patients and their families, answering telephones, confirming appointments, and transferring calls as needed.
  • Check in patients, providing necessary forms and collecting updated patient information to enter into our Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Assist with maintaining provider templates and appointment schedules, exercising problem-solving and conflict resolution skills when handling patient concerns.
  • Practice confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance with clinical policies and HIPAA requirements.
  • Prepare charts and accounts on a daily basis, checking insurance eligibility and scanning Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance cards.
  • Collect co-pays and fees as needed, including closeout of the cash drawer at the end of the day.
  • Provide registration forms and instructions to new patients and those who haven't been seen in the last year, assisting as necessary.
  • Schedule walk-in patients for same-day appointments, connecting patients to insurance eligibility services as needed.
  • Explain Neighborcare's sliding scale policy to self-pay patients, verifying income information and entering it appropriately into the EHR.
  • As necessary, request an interpreter to assist patients, preparing the clinic to open and close for business in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile fee slips and run reports at the end of the shift or throughout the day.
  • Respond to emergent needs and assist teams by calling taxis, ambulances, etc.
  • Partner with other members of the clinic team to ensure patients receive the needed services, participating in huddles and all-staff meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with clinic team members via the EHR and in-person.
  • Perform day-to-day administrative functions and general office duties, including word processing, copying, filing, faxing, and data entry.
  • Comply with the Neighborcare risk management, compliance, and information security program requirements, including accurate and timely reporting of all adverse incidents.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • One (1) year of customer service experience
  • One (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting
  • Bilingual skills

Compensation:

The wage range for this position is: Minimum $19.97 up to $26.18 maximum. Compensation will be determined based on years of relevant experience.
