Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and passionate Executive Pastry Chef to join our team at The Penny Ice Creamery, a unique ice cream shop that makes ice cream completely from scratch, in house, using local and organic ingredients.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Kitchen Manager in executing all production needs in the kitchen
- Execute all production needs in the kitchen, including ice cream, sorbet, praline, fruit compotes and syrups, pastries, marshmallows and meringues, chocolate and caramel sauces, and more
- Ordering, inventory, waste management, production scheduling, and guiding kitchen staff towards defined outcomes
- Ensure product quality meets The Penny Ice Creamery's strict quality standards at all times
- Maintain production facility cleanliness and sanitation protocols
- Operate all kitchen equipment, including the Emery Thompson Batch Ice Cream Freezer and Pasteurizer
- Pasteurization license with the California Department of Food and Agriculture
- Demonstrated interest and passion for culinary advancement
- Demonstrated kitchen skills (fundamental and technical)
- Ability to work 30+ hours a week consistently
- Flexibility with scheduling; ability to work days, late nights, weekends, and holidays
- Able to lift 50lbs repeatedly
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated success and desire to work in and lead a fast-paced, high-volume, and hands-on environment
