Overview:


Reporting directly to the VP/CNO, this role is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the patient care delivery framework and nursing practice standards in partnership with the nursing leadership team.

This position is pivotal in ensuring high-quality patient care and encompasses leadership, strategic planning, coordination, and operational evaluation. The role is accountable for enhancing quality, financial performance, employee engagement, and patient satisfaction in alignment with the organization's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the VP/CNO to design, organize, and assess nursing practice standards across all units.
  • Maintain 24/7 accountability for personnel supervision and ensure optimal patient care through effective resource management.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and constructive feedback while fostering a collaborative and positive work environment to achieve high-quality services and employee engagement.
  • Lead initiatives to meet organizational objectives and offer strategic recommendations to the VP/CNO for growth targets.
  • Oversee fiscal management within the department to ensure effective use of financial resources, demonstrating proficiency in data analysis to support business decisions.
  • Facilitate communication across departments to ensure efficient clinical service operations, collaborating with all stakeholders.
  • Work with Quality Department Leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory standards through established policies and practices, identifying opportunities for performance improvement and patient safety.
  • Promote an environment that champions service excellence and serves as a role model for staff and patient interactions.
  • Encourage open communication and ensure information is shared effectively to enhance operations and foster positive employee relations.
  • In environments with Collective Bargaining Agreements, partner with Human Resources to guide the nursing management team in maintaining a consistent approach to employee engagement and labor relations.
  • Commit to personal and professional development to stay current in the field, demonstrating the ability to apply evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborate with the Department of Professional Development to create educational programs that enhance staff skills and promote professional growth.
  • Support nursing leadership and staff participation in the shared governance model, acting as a mentor and leader in this framework.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an advanced degree in nursing is required. A Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field is mandatory.

Experience:
A minimum of five years in Nursing Leadership with a comparable scope of responsibilities is essential. Nursing Executive Certification and membership in a healthcare/nursing professional organization are preferred.

Licensure:
Valid RN License in New York and Connecticut is required.
