Job Description
How you will make a difference
As a Patient Support Specialist at US Renal Care, you will play a vital role in a collaborative team providing care and performing delegated treatment activities for patients. You will operate under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Charge Nurse (CN) for individuals experiencing renal failure.
Your Responsibilities
Patient Interaction. You will engage directly with patients to deliver safe, comfortable, and high-quality dialysis services. Your duties will include collecting patient data before and after treatment, initiating and monitoring treatment, concluding treatment, and obtaining patient blood samples as per physician directives.
Technical Responsibilities. You will prioritize quality by preparing machines for hemodialysis sessions, ensuring proper cleaning and disinfection post-treatment, and conducting safety checks on machines while documenting results for quality assurance, adhering to all protocols and regulations.
Safety and Compliance. You will implement appropriate safety measures, including the use of personal protective equipment. Under the supervision of a Charge Nurse, you will comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable state/federal laws and regulations. Participation in all mandatory staff meetings and continuing education is expected.
What we seek
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A genuine desire to work in healthcare and support patients in need
- Prior experience in healthcare, particularly in dialysis, phlebotomy, or as a CNA is advantageous
- Successful completion of USRC training program approved by the Medical Director, demonstrating competency within a specified timeframe after hire.
- Completion of USRC training course in hemodialysis theory and practice within a designated period after hire.
- CPR certification is required within a specified timeframe after hire or as mandated by state regulations.
- Patient Care Technician certification must be acquired through a state certification program or a nationally recognized certification program within a specified timeframe after hire and maintained thereafter.
- Ability to differentiate all primary colors.
- Comfort with handling acids and bicarbonate in accordance with established protocols.
