Role Summary: The Assistant Manager of Patient Care plays a crucial role in the oversight and execution of nursing practice standards in collaboration with the nursing leadership team. This position is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, providing leadership, and managing the daily operations of the nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning, organization, and evaluation of nursing standards within the unit.
- Supervise personnel to ensure optimal patient care through effective resource management.
- Mentor and coach staff, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Participate in the hiring, disciplinary, and performance management processes for nursing personnel.
- Ensure compliance with training requirements for all team members.
- Support the Patient Care Manager in achieving departmental objectives.
- Contribute to effective fiscal management and resource utilization within the department.
- Facilitate communication across departments to enhance operational efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and identify opportunities for quality improvement.
- Promote a culture of service excellence and professional development among staff.
- Engage in personal and professional growth to maintain current knowledge in nursing practices.
- Encourage staff participation in shared governance initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an advanced nursing degree is required (or completion of either within two years).
Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience, including at least one year in a leadership role. Nursing certification in leadership or a related specialty is preferred.
Licensure: Valid New York State RN License and/or Connecticut State RN License as applicable.
Physical Requirements: The role may require occasional light physical effort, including standing and sitting for extended periods.
Work Environment: The position may involve occasional exposure to minor injuries or occupational hazards.
