Position Overview:
The Policy Operations Supervisor is tasked with managing the effective administration and processing of insurance policies. This role leads a team of policy operations specialists, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards while addressing any discrepancies that may occur throughout the policy lifecycle. Collaboration with various departments is essential to pinpoint data trends, enhance operational efficiency, mitigate risks, streamline workflows, and improve customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the policy operations division, guaranteeing the precise and efficient processing of insurance policies in line with organizational policies and regulatory mandates.
  • Supervises and mentors policy operations personnel, providing training, conducting performance assessments, and resolving any processing discrepancies.
  • Ensures prompt issuance of insurance policies to clients, which includes verifying applications, underwriting criteria, and policy documentation.
  • Implements quality assurance protocols to maintain the accuracy and completeness of policy documents, reviewing them for compliance with underwriting standards.
  • Identifies and recommends enhancements to policy processing workflows, systems, and procedures to boost efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures adherence to insurance regulations, industry norms, and internal policies during policy processing activities, staying informed on regulatory updates and making necessary adjustments.
  • Addresses client inquiries and issues related to policy processing, working closely with departments such as customer service and claims to ensure a positive client experience.
  • Maintains accurate and secure policy data and records, including both electronic and physical filing systems.
  • Generates and evaluates reports concerning policy processing metrics, such as turnaround times, accuracy rates, and productivity, to assess departmental performance and pinpoint areas for enhancement.
  • Collaborates with teams in underwriting, claims, sales, and IT to optimize processes, resolve issues, and align with organizational objectives.
  • Facilitates training and development opportunities for policy operations staff to improve their expertise in insurance products, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists with internal and external audits of policy processing activities, providing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
Qualifications:
  • At least 6 years of experience in Insurance Business Operations or Claims Policy Processing, with a preference for 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Education:
  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred, particularly in Business Operations, Sales, or Business Administration. Relevant work experience may also be considered.
Certifications:
  • Preferred: Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR)
