POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Supervisor will support and oversee daily laboratory functions, focusing on microbiological and chemical methodologies, quality assurance, and operational efficiency in a commercial lab that operates year-round. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all laboratory activities align with Certified Laboratories Inc.'s operational standards while balancing supervisory and administrative responsibilities. The aim is to drive improvements in profitability, productivity, and overall laboratory efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the Laboratory Manager and/or Operations Manager to recruit, train, motivate, and manage laboratory personnel, fostering a culture of quality, integrity, teamwork, and urgency.
  • Achieve proficiency across all laboratory roles.
  • Assist in the development of operational budgets and analyze performance reports as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with technical standards, quality control protocols, and documentation across all laboratory operations.
  • Oversee data accuracy through effective management of the LIMS system and ensure adherence to established laboratory protocols, with the authority to halt operations if standards are compromised.
  • Work alongside the Technical Manager to maintain compliance with quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Address and resolve equipment malfunctions and supply issues promptly.
  • Maintain expertise in method validation and industry regulations.
  • Stay informed about processes and procedures in accordance with established policies.
  • Conduct regular audits of laboratory staff and processes to ensure adherence to protocols.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by managing sample flow and testing timelines to meet client specifications.
  • Identify needs for retesting based on quality control assessments.
  • Enhance technical knowledge through continuous education and awareness of industry trends.
  • Assist in prioritizing tasks to meet both individual and team objectives.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Complete all required training and development activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in commercial microbiological laboratory testing and supervisory roles.
  • Understanding of GMPs, GLPs, and laboratory quality assurance principles; familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 is preferred.
  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is advantageous.
  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Food Safety, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and regulations.
  • Proficient in writing reports and procedural documentation.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information to various stakeholders.
  • Experience in supervising multiple teams and ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
  • Commitment to maintaining a harmonious workplace and professional demeanor.
