Position Overview

The Land Survey Crew Chief is tasked with leading field survey operations, collaborating with team members to execute various survey projects, including boundary delineations, ALTA/NSPS Land Title surveys, topographic assessments, photo control surveys, route surveys, and construction stakeout activities, all under the guidance of a Registered Professional Surveyor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the effective management of the field crew, adhering to established operating procedures and health and safety regulations.
  • Utilize robotic total stations and GPS technology to gather precise data and information efficiently.
  • Conduct site preparations, maintain detailed records, and oversee the upkeep of company equipment and survey vehicles.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficient in operating GPS devices, data collection tools, and Total Stations.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and demonstrate initiative.
  • Strong understanding of land surveying principles, techniques, and practices.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided drafting and civil engineering concepts, as well as construction specifications and regulations.
  • Knowledge of safety principles and practices relevant to the industry.
  • Capable of operating motorized equipment and working outdoors in diverse environmental conditions.
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and effectively use hands and tools.
  • Able to lift and/or move weights ranging from 50 to 75 pounds.
  • Skilled in managing office tasks efficiently, organizing workloads, setting priorities, and maintaining positive communication with colleagues and clients.
  • Local travel may be required within a specified radius.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A high school diploma is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a survey crew chief role is preferred.
