Chief Land Surveyor

The Survey Crew Leader will operate both autonomously and collaboratively with team members to execute field survey tasks associated with boundary delineations, A L T A/ N S P S Land Title surveys, topographic assessments, photographic control surveys, route evaluations, and construction layout under the oversight of a Registered Professional Surveyor.

Key Responsibilities:

Your role will encompass the effective management of the field team, adhering to established operating protocols and current health and safety regulations. You will utilize robotic total stations and GPS technology to gather precise data and information efficiently. Responsibilities include driving stakes, documenting detailed notes and diagrams, and maintaining the company’s surveying equipment and vehicles.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Proficiency in operating GPS devices, data collection tools, and/or Total Stations is required. The position demands independent decision-making and initiative. A solid understanding of land surveying principles, techniques, and practices is essential. Familiarity with computer-aided drafting tools and civil engineering principles, along with construction specifications and regulations, is also necessary. Knowledge of industry-standard safety practices is critical. Candidates must be capable of operating motorized equipment and working outdoors in diverse field conditions. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and effectively use hands, tools, and controls. The ability to lift and/or move items weighing up to 50-75 pounds is necessary. Efficient management of office functions, work organization, priority setting, and maintaining positive interpersonal relations with staff and clients are essential.
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma is preferred, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience as a survey crew chief.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
