Position Summary:
As a Senior Staff Engineer within the Site Reliability team, you will engage with extensive cloud infrastructure, processing billions of metrics and petabytes of logs.

Your role will involve utilizing this data to assist internal teams in monitoring service reliability and proactively preventing incidents.

You will have the chance to develop the next-generation Observability Platform utilizing Kubernetes and other open-source solutions, as well as crafting software components from the ground up.

Your collaboration with various engineering teams will allow you to influence them with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and best practices, ensuring your contributions are felt across the organization.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain observability solutions, including monitoring, alerting, logging, and tracing across diverse platforms and infrastructures.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and define observability requirements.
  • Establish and implement best practices for effective monitoring, alerting, and telemetry systems.
  • Assess and recommend leading observability tools and technologies to enhance system visibility and reliability.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service-level objectives (SLOs) related to system performance and reliability.
  • Assist in troubleshooting complex incidents by analyzing data from observability tools.
  • Provide mentorship to other engineers on observability principles and practices.
  • Conduct evaluations of observability systems to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Drive the standardization of observability processes and tools across the organization.
  • Contribute to the creation of training materials and documentation for observability practices.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Extensive experience in implementing and managing observability solutions in large-scale environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and logging systems such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Stack, Datadog, or New Relic.
  • Familiarity with distributed tracing technologies like Jaeger or Zipkin.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps and SRE practices, including CI/CD and infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Ruby.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, focusing on data-driven decisions.
  • A proven track record of leading successful observability projects.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with application performance management (APM) tools such as Dynatrace or AppDynamics.
  • Professional certifications in cloud platforms or monitoring tools.

Compensation and Benefits:
Our compensation reflects the labor market across various regions.

The base salary for this position ranges from $159,000 to $324,000, depending on geographic location and individual qualifications.
