Position Overview:
Merrick & Company is in search of a Senior Civil Engineering Specialist to join our Surface Water/Stormwater Engineering Infrastructure team.

This role will be based in our Denver, CO office and may involve occasional travel to support our expanding practice.

Typical salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000, with variations based on relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct analyses and design work for river, drainageway, and urban stormwater systems.

Prepare and evaluate technical drawings, specifications, cost estimates, studies, reports, and other deliverables.


Execute design tasks, create bid documents, and organize all project-related materials, under the guidance of project managers and senior engineers.

Must familiarize oneself with Merrick's operational procedures and apply them effectively.


The ideal candidate should demonstrate sound engineering judgment, initiative, and expertise commensurate with the role's responsibilities.


Excellent interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration with clients and government agencies at all levels, including leading project meetings, delivering presentations, and ensuring clear written communication.

Additional responsibilities may include project management duties.

Some travel may be necessary.

Field and construction activities may also be required.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.

Required Certifications:
P.E. (Professional Engineer) in any state, with the ability to obtain licensure in Colorado within six months.


A minimum of eight to twelve years of experience in the design and oversight of surface water and urban stormwater systems, land development, or a related civil engineering field.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.

Experience in kayaking and rafting is preferred to support our specialized whitewater recreation team.

Ability to produce well-coordinated civil design documents is essential.

A valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and insurability under Merrick's insurance policy are required.

Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Desired Qualifications:
Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or GIS Systems is preferred.

Experience in public works design with local, state, and federal agencies is advantageous.

Land development experience is a plus.
