Position Overview

The Robotics Clinical Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing the management and operational functions of surgical robotic systems. This position is under the general supervision of the unit's Manager and is essential for facilitating and coordinating the robotic surgery schedule in collaboration with OR Navigators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient throughput and completion of both scheduled and additional robotic procedures.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities and collaborative skills while working with healthcare teams, focusing on staffing and patient flow/scheduling.
  • Manage inventory of instruments, accessories, and ancillary supplies pertinent to robotic surgery.
  • Develop and motivate team members, while assessing and negotiating to enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Serve as the primary contact for inquiries related to the da Vinci system, both clinical and operational.
  • Conduct training sessions on the da Vinci system utilizing the Interactive Training Tool.
  • Possess a foundational understanding of data collection and research protocols.

Patient Care

Utilize the nursing process to provide care for patients across all age groups, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations, adhering to current standards of surgical practices and anatomy relevant to robotic surgery in various specialties such as Urology, Gynecology, Thoracic, and General Surgery.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate Degree in Nursing - Required
  • Experience: 2-3 years in a related perioperative field - Required, with robotic surgical experience or minimally invasive surgery preferred.
  • Licensure & Certification: Professional Certification - Required; Registered Nurse License with State of Practice – Required; CNOR or CST; ACLS certification to be obtained within the first year of hire, with a commitment to pursuing and maintaining national certification in the subspecialty area.

  • Provide and receive constructive feedback to build confidence within the team.
  • Implement AORN standards of care, utilizing best practices and adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in operational and capital budgeting, focusing on resource efficiency and waste elimination.
  • Ensure staffing requirements are met and maintain timely submission of call schedules.
  • Coordinate schedules with anesthesia, surgeons, and staff to promote timely surgical starts.
  • Engage in service planning and development, leveraging knowledge of industry trends.
  • Monitor and promote measures to enhance customer and co-worker satisfaction scores.
