Position Overview

  • Under the general oversight of the unit's Manager, the Robotic Coordinator is tasked with the management and operational oversight of surgical robotic systems. This includes facilitating and coordinating the robotic surgery schedule in collaboration with OR Navigators. The role ensures efficient throughput and successful completion of both scheduled and additional robotic procedures.
  • Leadership and Collaboration

  • Inventory Management
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining the inventory of instruments, accessories, and ancillary supplies pertinent to robotic surgery.

  • Point of Contact
  • Acts as the primary contact for any inquiries related to the da Vinci system, whether clinical or operational.
  • Training Responsibilities
  • Conducts training sessions on the da Vinci system utilizing the Interactive Training Tool.
  • Patient Care
  • Utilizes the nursing process to provide care for patients across all age groups, adhering to current standards of surgical practices and anatomical knowledge as it pertains to robotic surgery in various specialties including Urology, Gynecology, Thoracic, and General Surgery.
  • Knowledge and Compliance
  • Possesses a solid understanding of surgical terminology, equipment, materials, and relevant policies and procedures related to robotic surgery. Functions within the defined scope of nursing practice as per the regulations of the Georgia Board of Nursing and the policies of St. Joseph's/Candler Health System.
  • Educational Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Nursing - Required
  • Experience Requirements
  • 2-3 Years in a related perioperative field - Required
  • Experience in robotic surgical procedures or Minimally Invasive Surgery is preferred.
  • Licensure and Certification
  • Professional Certification - Required
  • Registered Nurse License in the State of Practice – Required
  • CNOR or CST certification and ACLS certification to be obtained within the first year of employment. Demonstrates competency through the pursuit and maintenance of national certification within the subspecialty area.
  • Core Responsibilities
  • Provides and receives constructive feedback, fostering confidence among team members and achieving high performance metrics.
  • Implements AORN standards of care and hospital policies and procedures effectively.
  • Participates in operational and capital budgeting, aiming to eliminate waste and utilize resources efficiently.
  • Ensures staffing requirements are met, submits call schedules promptly, and maintains necessary supplies and instrumentation to facilitate successful surgical outcomes.
  • Coordinates schedules with anesthesia, surgeons, and staff, promoting timely starts for procedures.
  • Engages in service planning and development by leveraging knowledge of industry trends, taking administrative calls, and supporting change initiatives while keeping management informed of departmental activities.
  • Proactively reviews unit/customer satisfaction scores and implements measures to enhance satisfaction, consistently demonstrating behaviors that contribute to excellent patient experiences.
