Role Overview:

The Chief Underwriter will lead the underwriting efforts for CPC Climate Capital, ensuring that our financial products align with our mission to support multifamily housing initiatives. This pivotal role involves overseeing the underwriting platform, guiding the underwriting team, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of all underwriting activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement underwriting policies and procedures that reflect CPC Climate Capital's objectives.
  • Ensure that all underwriting submissions adhere to established guidelines and standards.
  • Manage the workflow of the underwriting team to guarantee timely and high-quality completion of loan applications.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key lending institutions to facilitate the approval of subordinate debt financing.
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on loan submissions prior to final approvals.
  • Enhance operational efficiencies through process improvements and technology integration.
  • Conduct ongoing training and professional development for team members.
  • Foster clear communication among all stakeholders involved in transactions.
  • Set measurable goals for team performance and ensure resources are available to achieve these objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with CPC Climate Capital's policies and all relevant regulations.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of CPC Climate Capital.
  • Participate in special projects as needed.
  • Perform additional administrative tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Over 10 years of experience in underwriting construction and permanent loans for both affordable and conventional properties.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in a managerial role.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Real Estate Finance, Urban Planning, or a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae underwriting standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn across various disciplines.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills, both written and oral.
  • Proven ability to solve problems and make independent decisions with precision.
  • Skilled in organizing and prioritizing multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with sustainable building practices and housing decarbonization.
