As a Senior Commercial Risk Underwriter, you will be responsible for managing intricate new and renewal business within the Middle Markets sector, acting as a Subject Matter Expert in our Private Equity segment.
Joining Zurich's Underwriting Team offers you the chance to leverage and refine your underwriting and marketing capabilities while fostering relationships with our Preferred Distribution Partners across the Northeast Region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as an industry advocate for clients, enhancing their experience by comprehensively understanding their risks and providing optimal end-to-end insurance solutions.
- Employ a systematic approach to evaluate exposures, assess risks, and determine pricing.
- Utilize risk insights, data analytics, and models to inform decisions at the point of sale.
- Identify coverage gaps and align Zurich's offerings with client needs to ensure contract certainty.
- Oversee and enforce underwriting standards, insurance regulations, and rating guidelines.
Qualifications:
Mid-Senior Level:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 6+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support, or
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 1+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, or
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 4+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
Senior Level:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 10+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support, or
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, or
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
Additional qualifications include:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Private Equity Middle Markets underwriting experience in the Northeast Region.
- Strong risk assessment capabilities.
- Exceptional relationship-building, active listening, needs analysis, and negotiation skills.
- In-depth knowledge of underwriting principles, techniques, and regulatory guidelines.
- Competence in PC and related software applications.
