Position Overview:
The individual in this role is responsible for meticulously combining ingredients as per established recipes to produce bread intended for crouton manufacturing. This position involves operating various mixing equipment, pumps, mills, and valves to adhere to the production schedule. Additionally, the role includes providing product samples to the Quality Assurance (QA) team as required and ensuring the cleanliness of equipment as directed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Review all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and act as a Qualified Individual (QI) for the role.
2. Accurately combine seasonings and other ingredients in the specified order, weighing and proportioning them according to product formulas.
3. Replace blades as necessary, whether due to breakage or size adjustments.
4. Monitor crouton size and quality, taking on quality assurance duties at the inspection table when needed.
5. Fill the dough mixer by lifting or pumping ingredients.
6. Perform arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately while reading scales.
7. Provide product samples to QA in accordance with defined specifications.
8. Operate mixing equipment, pumps, mills, and valves to ensure correct ingredient amounts are added.
9. Uphold company standards for cleanliness, food safety, and productivity within the processing area.
10. Support the processing lead in maintaining continuous production flow.
11. Collaborate effectively with fellow team members in the processing area.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure adherence to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA, and HACCP support programs, guaranteeing conformity to all company, customer, and government standards. Strive to lead in safety solutions by maintaining a proactive safety mindset. Engage in safety training and assist in identifying hazards through BBS and Safety Monitor programs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills are essential.
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing setting is preferred.
Working Environment:
This role is situated in a manufacturing environment where employees are frequently required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp, and bend while navigating the facility. Candidates must be capable of moving items weighing up to 50 pounds over distances of 25 feet or more at varying frequencies. The position requires standing for 8 to 10 hours per shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks while performing repetitive tasks. Overtime and weekend work may be necessary. Employees may encounter non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, and moving machinery. The noise level in the plant is considerable, necessitating the use of ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant footwear, and gloves in accordance with company GMP and safety protocols.
