Position Overview

The Seasoning Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that the seasoning processes and application rates are executed accurately. This position also involves the cleaning and maintenance of equipment as directed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and adhere to all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and act as a Qualified Individual (QI) for the role.
  • Verify that the seasoning levels, spices, lot codes, and auger settings are correct.
  • Ensure the correct recipe is programmed into the seasoning equipment.
  • Conduct accurate scale calibrations.
  • Efficiently assemble, disassemble, clean, and sanitize production lines.
  • Perform hourly metal detector checks in accordance with SOPs.
  • Monitor crouton size and quality, taking on quality assurance responsibilities at the inspection table as needed.
  • Quickly and accurately read scales and perform necessary arithmetic calculations.
  • Provide product samples to Quality Assurance as required.
  • Uphold company standards for cleanliness, food safety, and productivity within the processing area.
  • Support the processing lead in maintaining continuous production flow.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow team members in the processing area.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA, and HACCP support programs, meeting all company, customer, and government standards.
  • Commit to being a safety solutions leader by embracing a proactive safety mindset. Participate in engagement activities, complete necessary safety training, and assist in identifying hazards within the facility through Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) and Safety Monitor programs.
  • Engage in initiatives related to Marzetti Operational Excellence.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills are essential.
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing setting is preferred.
Working Environment

This role operates within a manufacturing environment where employees are frequently required to communicate, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp, and bend while navigating the facility. The ability to move weights over 25 pounds at various distances and frequencies is necessary. Employees must be capable of standing for extended periods, often performing repetitive tasks with scheduled breaks. Overtime and weekend work may be required. The work environment may expose employees to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery surfaces, and moving machinery. The noise level in the plant is typically loud, necessitating the use of ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant footwear, and gloves in accordance with company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety regulations.
