Position Summary

Under minimal supervision, this role involves performing claims and zone support activities.

The successful candidate will work from the Silver Spring Branch.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Perform support and administrative functions, including answering phones, filing, copying/imaging, faxing, processing and distributing mail, and supporting third-party vendor relationships and processes.
  2. Order supplies and schedule/coordinate meetings.
  3. Greet and direct visitors to the appropriate personnel.
  4. Provide support in various disciplines including material damage, property, liability, subrogation, workers' compensation, medical, and litigation.
  5. Assist with various activities such as preparing and processing documents, managing time-sensitive and confidential claim file information on a routine basis, and following up on calls and other claim file support as needed.

Respond to inquiries from customers, including but not limited to adjusters, policyholders, agents, independent adjusters, and claimants, or refer to others as required. Handle all inquiries with a focus on customer service. Enter new loss report information and update claim documentation.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Greet, screen, and direct visitors to the appropriate personnel.
  2. Mentor and train less experienced staff as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Education Equivalents:

  1. Associate's degree in business or a related field; or
  2. High School Diploma or GED and two years of customer service in a professional setting, administrative, claims support, or office experience, required.

Demonstrated ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute and 90 net data entry keystrokes per minute preferred. Completion of LOMA Select tests required with a passing score. Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software is required. Experience in the insurance industry is preferred. Completion or active pursuit of insurance education, such as the Program in General Insurance (INS 21, 22, 23) or introductory courses, is preferred. A valid driver's license is preferred.
