Role Summary: The Caseworker is responsible for delivering trauma-informed support to refugees and eligible immigrants, ensuring a constructive resettlement journey and fostering client self-sufficiency. This role involves close collaboration with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders to formulate service and self-sufficiency plans tailored to individual client needs and preferences, leveraging a wide array of financial, medical, social, vocational, and other resources in alignment with client eligibility and program standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate timely pre- and post-arrival services to guarantee that each client has essential living resources such as housing, food, medical assistance, and transportation access, while acclimating to their new surroundings.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments with clients to identify needs. Collaborate with clients to develop self-sufficiency plans and timelines, providing personalized support through direct services, referrals, and advocacy.
  • Evaluate and track client progress to aid in achieving established objectives, addressing obstacles, and ensuring optimal utilization of available resources.
  • Document each client interaction in compliance with program protocols. Enter client data into databases and assist with necessary tracking and reporting.
  • Engage effectively with colleagues and partner organizations. Cultivate and sustain relationships with local service providers to benefit clients.
  • Utilize a personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation (when available) to travel and transport clients and materials as required throughout the service area.
  • May oversee and guide the activities of volunteers and interns.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in the human services sector is required; experience with refugee and/or immigrant populations is strongly preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Exceptional relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking abilities; capacity to effectively establish internal and external relationships.
  • Proven success in working and communicating effectively within a multicultural environment.
  • Self-motivated with outstanding problem-solving skills, along with the ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage time efficiently.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in work output.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in languages spoken by IRC clients, such as Dari, Farsi, and/or Pashto, is desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); capable of utilizing the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.
Work Environment:
  • This position involves a mix of standard office settings, remote work, and field activities within the service delivery area to fulfill the outlined responsibilities.
  • Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be required.
