Role Summary: The Caseworker delivers trauma-informed support to refugees and eligible immigrants, facilitating a smooth resettlement process and promoting client self-sufficiency. This role involves close collaboration with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders to create tailored service and self-sufficiency plans that align with the unique needs and preferences of each individual, utilizing a diverse array of financial, medical, social, vocational, and other resources in compliance with eligibility and program guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure timely coordination of pre- and post-arrival services, providing clients with essential resources such as housing, food, medical care, and transportation, while orienting them to their new surroundings.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to identify client needs. Collaborate with clients to develop personalized self-sufficiency plans and timelines, offering tailored support through direct services, referrals, and advocacy.
  • Monitor and evaluate client progress towards established goals, addressing challenges and ensuring optimal utilization of available resources.
  • Document all client interactions in accordance with program standards. Maintain accurate client records in databases and assist with necessary tracking and reporting.
  • Foster effective collaboration with colleagues and partner organizations, building and sustaining relationships with local service providers to enhance client support.
  • Utilize personal, insured vehicles and/or public transportation to travel and assist clients as needed within the service area.
  • May provide training and guidance to volunteers and interns.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in the human services sector is required; experience with refugee and/or immigrant populations is highly preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Exceptional relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking abilities; adept at establishing effective internal and external partnerships.
  • Proven success in communicating and working effectively within diverse cultural contexts.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving capabilities, proficient in multitasking, prioritizing responsibilities, and managing time efficiently.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all work outputs.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in languages spoken by IRC clients, such as Dari, Farsi, and/or Pashto, is desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and capable of utilizing digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a personal, insured vehicle are required.
Work Environment:
  • The role involves a mix of standard office settings, remote work, and field activities within the service delivery area.
  • Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be necessary.
