Position Overview

The Finance & Portfolio Operations Analyst will report directly to the COO/CFO and will be instrumental in managing key aspects of our data processes. This role encompasses the systematic handling of portfolio and fund management requirements, including deal execution, data collection, investor reporting, and analytics.

The analyst will gain exposure to various facets of Activate and will collaborate closely with both the finance and investment teams. It is important to note that this position does not lead to a career in investment.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Management

  • Oversee the comprehensive portfolio data management process, ensuring accuracy in financials and key performance indicators.
  • Manage data aggregation tools and third-party platforms for portfolio monitoring, cash flow management, and ESG metrics.
  • Establish best practices for data storage and reporting across the firm's workflows.
  • Collaborate with finance and investment teams to facilitate quarterly valuations and manage investment cash flows.
  • Prepare financial models and analyses to assess fund and portfolio performance for various stakeholders.

Reporting

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports for limited partners and potential investors.
  • Coordinate the collection of impact metrics for sustainability reporting.
  • Aggregate and present portfolio data in various formats for internal and external use.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding portfolio company data and fund-level information.
  • Support marketing efforts related to investment announcements.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in fundraising activities, including data room management and presentation preparation.
  • Utilize various data sources to conduct research relevant to investment and finance operations.
  • Continuously seek improvements in internal processes through automation and tool development.
  • Undertake other projects as assigned.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in data analysis and management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, with a solid understanding of financial modeling and forecasting.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and familiarity with financial statements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills in a dynamic environment.
  • Proactive project management abilities with a collaborative mindset.
  • Enthusiasm for cross-functional collaboration and a desire to learn about venture capital.

Experience Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in a financial or business data analyst role.
  • A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
