Key Responsibilities

  1. Administering a diverse array of federal, state, and private contracts and grants, along with discretionary funds;
  2. Conducting financial oversight and analytical assessments of intricate financial portfolios;
  3. Streamlining the administration of extramural funding for research faculty by crafting budget plans and reconciling expenditures with approved budgets;
  4. Generating monthly financial forecasts and aligning them with actual spending;
  5. Compiling fiscal closure reports and performing final cost reconciliations;
  6. Addressing overdrafts and appropriation discrepancies;
  7. Ensuring adherence to award conditions to mitigate audit risks;
  8. Engaging in long-term strategic planning and devising innovative solutions for grant management challenges.

This role necessitates collaboration across various stakeholders and locations, navigating complex funding agency regulations, and managing a high volume of financial transactions. The position requires specialized expertise in grants and contracts, financial analysis, fiscal management, and research expenditure forecasting.

The incumbent will keep leadership and Principal Investigators informed of significant operational policy changes and will be tasked with developing innovative business management solutions. As the team lead, the incumbent will oversee monthly meetings and resolve complex operational issues. Additionally, the incumbent will supervise and mentor a finance analyst.

Role Expectations

The Lead Research Finance Analyst is responsible for delivering comprehensive financial analyses and management support to a designated group of faculty regarding their sponsored awards. This role serves as the primary contact for faculty concerning research financial matters, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and responsive post-award administration services.
