Role Overview

Red Cedar Homes is in search of a detail-oriented and proactive Procurement Specialist to optimize the functionality and productivity of our Purchasing department. This position will focus on streamlining purchasing bids, enhancing departmental processes, and improving reporting and analytics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the purchasing department, including the management of bid packages, correspondence, data entry, and the preparation and maintenance of various reports and vendor files.
  • Prepare and disseminate bid packages for new developments and modifications.
  • Maintain and update the master bid list to incorporate current and prospective trade partners.
  • Review and process variance purchase orders, change orders, and notices to proceed, addressing any purchase order discrepancies and making budget adjustments as necessary.
  • Oversee new vendor applications, ensuring proper insurance verification and documentation.
  • Create change orders with appropriate timelines for vendor transitions or pricing adjustments.
  • Assist the Purchasing Manager with bidding and takeoffs as required.
  • Address all construction-related inquiries concerning the Purchasing Department and facilitate issue resolution among team members, trade partners, and vendors.
  • Communicate effectively with trade partners and vendors through various channels.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding trade partner and vendor selection and relations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues as they arise.
  • Develop job-specific budgets using estimating software.
  • Issue job-specific Purchase Orders.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Attributes

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective interaction with buyers and team members.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a knack for multitasking and prioritizing effectively.
  • Proficient in computer software and database management.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy in record-keeping and documentation.
  • Professional demeanor with a customer-focused approach to service.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Basic understanding of residential construction materials and techniques, with a willingness to learn more advanced practices.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook), Adobe Pro, and internet-based applications.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a college degree in a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in homebuilding purchasing or accounting is preferred.
  • Prior experience in real estate, home building, customer service, or a related field is advantageous.

Schedule:

Standard daytime hours, Monday through Friday.

Job Type:

Full-time position, averaging 40 hours per week.
